RAD Adds Fully Automated Scan & Chop System To Production Line
March 20, 2023RAD Engineered Wood Products, a family-owned hardwood truck and trailer flooring manufacturer, announced today the launch of a fully-automated WEINIG scan and chop system in its wood processing facility. The installment of the system underscores RAD’s commitment to innovation and performance to provide customers with the highest quality hardwood truck and trailer flooring.
The latest technological enhancement to RAD’s production line, the WEINIG Scan and Chop System is a fully-automatic, high-performance line that scans the lumber components on all sides for defects and sends that data down the line to two saws to trim out the imperfections – all at full production speed. The system performs the work of what used to take more than a dozen employees and does it with only two.
The installation of RAD’s scan and chop line is a state-of-the art investment that precedes the commencement of long term contracts. Starting April 1, RAD will begin to fulfill shipments to existing and new customers on what will be its first tranche of contractual obligations. Later in 2023, RAD has additional contracts that will begin as it ramps up capacity. The new line and the contracted sales will allow RAD to grow into a second shift, which it expects will begin in the second quarter.
“We’re proud to bring more state-of-the-art equipment into our production line to keep pushing the boundaries of innovation in the woodworking industry,” said Brad Cantor, Vice President and co-owner of RAD Engineered Wood Products. “We’ve innovated for the last 60 years and intend to be setting the standard over the next 60 years and beyond.”
“RAD is constantly working to improve our manufacturing process to meet the highest craftsmanship and quality standards,” said Josh Cantor, Principal of RAD Engineered Wood Products. “The WEINIG Scan and Chop system solidifies us as a market leader – it will allow us to continue our sustainability efforts in creating less waste and making us more efficient. And, ultimately, we know this will create an even better end product for our customers.”
